The Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS), recently granted three-year accreditation to Bridgeport Hospital as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Program.
To earn this accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process and maintain excellence in delivering comprehensive patient-centered care. CoC care standards include a review of processes and outcomes with a focus on the full continuum of care.
“This reaccreditation recognizes our commitment to excellence and continuous efforts to improve patient outcomes,” said Anne Diamond, DBA, JD, Bridgeport Hospital president. “It’s also a result of the hard work and dedication of our highly skilled team of healthcare professionals, who strive to deliver personalized, compassionate care to each and every patient.”
During the March site visit, surveyors highlighted key aspects of Bridgeport Hospital’s program:
“This accreditation indicates to our patients that they can count on high-quality, cutting-edge treatment, knowing that our program continuously strives to improve quality and stays on top of the latest treatment modalities,” said Gean Brown, RN, clinical program manager, Breast Center & Surgical Oncology at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Bridgeport.
