Overview

As many as one in four Connecticut residents suffer from liver disease. Patients are frequently asymptomatic until the liver is severely damaged, and proper care requires a high degree of vigilance from healthcare providers. Liver disease can be inherited or caused by a variety of other factors such as obesity, diabetes or viral infections.

The Liver Disease program provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for all types of liver disease. Board-certified physicians provide the latest treatment and techniques including diagnostic, therapeutic and minimally invasive procedures. Our multidisciplinary team has a special focus on Hepatitis C therapy, fatty liver disease and complications of cirrhosis.

Testing and treatment

We will work with you to develop customized and compassionate care to accurately diagnose your condition through blood testing, imaging tests, biopsies or other testing as needed. A number of effective treatments are available for a variety of liver diseases. The specific treatment depends on the type of liver disease and the stage at which it is diagnosed. Medications may be available to treat your condition. Other common liver diseases may respond to weight loss which can be achieved with a multidisciplinary approach.
