Biography - Nadir Ijaz, MD

Nadir Ijaz, MD, is a pediatric critical care specialist who cares for children with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, severe infections, and post-operative complications.

As an instructor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Ijaz studies how to adapt essential emergency and critical care approaches for resource-limited settings. His research focuses on improving oxygen therapy for children with pneumonia, including the use of bubble continuous positive airway pressure, a non-invasive respiratory support method for newborns where a tube submerged in water creates bubbles, maintaining a constant positive pressure in the airway to improve lung function and gas exchange.

Dr. Ijaz completed his medical training at Stanford University School of Medicine. He pursued a residency in general pediatrics at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and fellowship training in pediatric critical care medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.
