Michael I. Gazes, DPM

Dr. Michael Gazes, a Podiatric Surgeon, treats patients with all foot and ankle conditions, including wound care, nail irregularities, toe deformities, heel and joint pains, flatfeet, sports injuries, fractures, and complications from diabetes and peripheral vascular disease. He specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. He is the Externship Director for the Yale Podiatric Foot & Ankle Surgery Residency Program and Faculty in the Department of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Gazes received his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton, where he majored in Biology with a concentration in Evolution. He then became the first graduate of a dual degree medical program, concurrently earning his Medical and Master of Public Health Degrees (DPM/MPH) from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

He was accepted to the prestigious Yale New Haven Hospital Foot and Ankle Surgery residency program, where he completed comprehensive training specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction and limb salvage. He presented research at national conferences and published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. The Yale Department of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery presented Dr. Gazes with the prestigious Residency Excellence Award for two consecutive years for his outstanding performance. During his final year of training, he earned the Gary P. Jolly Academic Achievement Award, the department’s highest honor for graduating residents.

Dr. Gazes is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine (ACFAOM) and an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM).
