John-Paul Ayala, MD

John-Paul Ayala, MD, is a pulmonary and critical care physician providing comprehensive clinical care in both the hospital and office settings. Dr. Ayala has been in service to the community since 2006. He is interested in all facets of pulmonary disease, including but not limited to, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung cancer, and assessment of pulmonary nodules. Dr. Ayala also spends a significant amount of his time caring for critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.Dr. Ayala received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, New York.Dr. Ayala has also served as an associate faculty member at Sacred Heart University in their School of Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner programs. As part of these programs, he has traveled to Kingston, Jamaica and American Samoa on medical mission work. His responsibilities also included guest lecturing on the topics of obstructive pulmonary disease and introduction to chest X-ray interpretation. He is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).In his free time, Dr. Ayala enjoys resistance training, cooking, music, and movies. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
