Fairfield — Over 800 people attended the January 21 Day of Wellness, a joint effort of seven area fitness centers. Volunteers from the Norma Pfriem Breast Center spoke to patrons about breast health, highlighting the importance of exercise and good nutrition for general health and to prevent breast and other cancers. The Norma Pfriem Breast Center, the first free-standing, community-based breast care center in Connecticut, has been helping women in the community fight breast cancer for fifteen years.
Amanda Mason, a member of the Breast Center’s President’s Council and a survivor, was among the volunteers, answering questions. “I feel it’s important to get the message out about the benefits of exercise and eating well… Even a little can make a difference and get you moving in the right direction.”
Raffles were held throughout the day. Karin Lewis won a personally designed, 1 1/2 hour yoga session with Colleen Reilly, a certified Kundalini yoga instructor and master integrative coach professional with practices in Fairfield and Ocean Grove, New Jersey, with a value of $125.
Patti Jonker won a 1 hour body massage with Karen Pirhalla, a massage therapist and Reiki master practicing in Fairfield, with a value of $75.
Eve Lashar won a five spin-ride package from Zen Ride with a value of $85.
The event took place from 8:00 a.m. - noon and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
