The Interventional Cardiology Program at Bridgeport Hospital is a one year program structured to provide an academically and clinically rigorous training in all aspects of interventional cardiology. Fellows who successfully complete the program and who are board certified in Internal Medicine will be eligible to sit for the certifying examination in Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. The program is accredited by the Residency Review Committee for Internal Medicine of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. We recruit one fellow per year for the program.
Bridgeport Hospital is the most comprehensive hospital in Fairfield County with 425 licensed beds, 2,300 employees, 520 active attending physicians representing 70 subspecialties, 227 medical/surgical residents and fellows in programs affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine, and more than 400 volunteers.
Our faculty come from the most prestigious training programs and have years of experience in performing complex interventional procedures. We employ all modalities of state-of-the-art percutaneous interventions. We have a burgeoning program in endovascular therapies and work collaboratively with the Departments of Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology. We also have an excellent working relationship with the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The fellow is given ample opportunity to participate in various research endeavors with the assistance of our faculty and research nurses.
Applications are currently entertained though ERAS.
