Alumnae Association

The Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae, Inc. was organized in 1897 and was incorporated on April 6, 1906. The Association’s main function is to provide a professional organization for BHSN graduate registered nurses. In 1969, in order to keep a tax exempt status, the Alumnae was divided into two organizations.

• Alumnae I is the altruistic branch. It provides scholarships and donations and is tax exempt.
• Alumnae II is the “endowed bed” or a secondary insurance fund whose function is for direct benefit to the members. It is not tax exempt.

Both Alumnae I & II seek to increase the educational status of graduates through scholarship aid.
