Every year, as part of our vital mission to promote health and wellness throughout the Greater Bridgeport region, Bridgeport Hospital sponsors, develops and participates in a wide variety of community-based programs and services. During 2021, BH managed $112.1 million in financial aid in-kind contributions through five wide-ranging programs: Guaranteeing Access to Care; Advancing Careers in Health Care; Promoting Health & Wellness; Building Stronger Neighborhoods; and Creating Healthier Communities. For over 140 years, BH has not only served the medical needs of the community but also pioneered advances in medicine and trained thousands of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Today, as a member of Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) — which also includes Yale New Haven Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, Westerly Hospital and Northeast Medical Group — BH is a distinguished institution whose more than 3,334 employees are dedicated to the health and wellbeing needs of our community.
Bridgeport Hospital provided $13.4 million to a variety of healthcare education programs that train individuals to become medical professionals, from physicians and nurses to pharmacists and dietitians.
Bridgeport Hospital provided $2.2 million to local health education programs, support groups, health fairs and various community organizations that help make Bridgeport a healthier place to live and work.
BH provided over $40,000 in financial and in-kind donations to address or support social determinants of health including food security, job training, affordable housing programs, economic development and/or other essential services.
BH provided more than $260,000 in funds and in-kind services to not-for-profit organizations unaffiliated with the hospital.
