Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Bridgeport Hospital
For those who need inpatient rehabilitation following injury or illness, the Rehabilitation Unit at Bridgeport Hospital provides an intensive program. All patients are screened for their ability to benefit from and participate in the interdisciplinary environment. Among the conditions treated are stroke, spinal cord injuries, amputations, multiple trauma, joint replacements, neurological disorders, burns and any other impairment that would benefit from the program. The length of stay depends upon a patient's unique needs. The Rehabilitation Unit is often the first step in a continuum of care that then extends into the home and the community.
We develop and revise your individual plan of care daily. Discharge planning is an ongoing process starting from the time of admission, and involves the whole interdisciplinary team.
Interdisciplinary Team consists of
- Patient and family
- Physiatrist or rehabilitation physician
- Consulting physicians
- Rehabilitation nurses
- Physical therapists
- Occupational therapists
- Speech therapists
- Social workers
- Nurse case managers
- Psychological counselors
- Prosthetic/orthotic technicians
