Neurosurgical Services for Treatment of Brain, Nerve and Spinal Conditions

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis and surgical repair of diseases of the brain and spine as well as nerves throughout the body. As a national development site for new neurosurgical technology, we have a skilled patient care team and we are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Bridgeport Hospital-affiliated neurosurgeons, neurologists, radiation medicine specialists, neuroradiologists, neuroanesthesiologists and our nursing and technical team continue to be on the leading edge of diagnosis and treatment of brain, nerve and spine conditions. To locate disease, we employ sophisticated diagnostic technology, including CAT Scans, MRIs and PET Scans. (We share the only PET scanner available in Fairfield County.) Our new operating suite is among the most advanced facilities in the nation for neurosurgical procedures.

After surgery, our patients recover in a state-of-the-art Surgical Intensive Care Unit opened in 1998 and a neurosurgical inpatient unit staffed by skilled nurses, therapists and other healthcare professionals.

Many of our neurosurgical patients benefit from the physical, occupational and speech therapy services provided in our inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, and from the outpatient services provided by our affiliate, Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers, at convenient locations in Bridgeport, Southport, Stratford and Trumbull.
